Why Is Dancing Important In Your Life: Dancing is important to me because it has helped me in so many ways. Not only am I growing as a dancer, but also as a person. I am more sociable and dedicated than I have ever been in my life.
When did you know you wanted more than a couple of lessons: Umm…. Immediately!! It is almost impossible to just come for the first lesson. Ballroom dancing is something so unique and different than typical activities that it instantly becomes addicting.
Tell us about the most fun you have had at a dance lesson or dance event: First off events and competitions are basically what I have come to live for. There is no feeling comparable as being out there on the floor, showing off all your hard work! But that doesn’t mean the journey to the competitions aren’t enjoyable. One of my favorite memories from a lesson is when my instructor was trying to teach me the correct frame for waltz. With waltz your head is supposed to be back, but I kept bringing it forward. Therefore, we literally danced with him holding my head back in the right place. I found that very helpful ….. and very funny!
What is your favorite dance and why: Waltz is my favorite dance because it gives me a legitimate excuse to be Cinderella (or any princess for then matter) for a minute and a half. As a whole, the dance looks so elegant and simple while at the same time it is so intricate, challenging, and involved.
Who Inspires you and why: Everyone at the studio, teachers and students, inspire me! We are all just a big family there for the same reason and we all just pump each other up! Even the wonderful receptionist, Malissa! I cannot imagine going to any dancing event without her now!
Specifically though, Donovan inspires me. He inspires me mainly because he tells it like it is. He is never rude, but he isn’t afraid to tell you the little details that you can work on to get your dancing even better! But also because every time he dance you can just see his passion, no matter the dance or the level of the person he is dancing with. He is awesome!
Your message to others who are still “thinking” about taking lessons: There is always an excuse about why “now is no a good time”, but really now is the perfect time! Just go to the studio and see what its all about! No harm, no foul! But trust me, you will fall in love with Ballroom Dancing!
